KSIM Community celebrated European Sports Day on 27th of September!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thanks to Mr. Paul Brailsford, we got to know more about this amazing event!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
European School Sports Day is a huge celebration of all things sport! Throughout the day, students will experience a wide variety of sports activities, including many sports that are new to them, or at least not practised regularly in PE lessons. For example, this year we have SUP boarding and kayaking, cycling, Padel Tennis, cricket, and Judo, just to name a few! The focus of the day is not on competition, but on participation, promoting of teamwork, leadership and overall good sportsmanship.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n At KSIM we celebrate ESSD as a whole school community – and we truly do mean a community! We provide sessions that include all of our outside providers (such as Sea Scouts, Bushido Kids, Zupa Judo, PMYC, etc), we invite our parents to watch and support our athletic engagements, we foster the leadership abilities of our DP students in participating in the Year 12 led CAS Carousel, we have teachers showing off their hidden skills as they work with students they wouldn’t usually teach in athletic activities outside of the classroom…. the list goes on! Above all else, if you look around on ESSD, you will see an ocean of happy faces that are genuinely appreciative and supportive of all that happens on that day!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n The start of ESSD will see all of our students performing a series of ‘House Chants’ to showcase their pride. In previous years, these chants were accompanied by drumming and dancing, so I am excited to see how our students ‘step it up’ even further this year! With a focus on participation and not competition, as well as the mixing of year groups across activities, our students truly become respectful, supportive individuals who aim to see each other succeed. This shows good sportsmanship – a focus on positive spirit for not just their House, but for the KSIM family on the whole! Wearing House colours and celebrating with friends and teachers who you wouldn’t usually mix with also generates a natural increase in House spirit!<\/em> KSIM Community celebrated European Sports Day on 27th of September!
