On Monday, 20th October we officially opened International Week at our school! The hallways were filled with colors, smiles, and the sounds of the world. The flag parade reminded us how every country is unique, while our school spirit remains one. The welcome speech and the Montenegrin national anthem brought a sense of pride and unity, and the Kahoot quiz added a spark of joy and curiosity. A special moment of the day was the performance by guslar Nikola Krivokapić, whose traditional Montenegrin singing carried the spirit of our heritage and reminded us of the beauty of our culture. We ended the assembly with the country draw for our PYP and MYP classes. This day is a great start to our wonderful week!

The second day of our International Week was dedicated to art – the universal language we all understand. Together with their teachers, students explored the beauty and culture of the countries they drew. Through colors, lines, and shapes, they brought to life the spirit of France, Kenya, Bulgaria, Japan, and many more. Our school corridors turned into a gallery of imagination, and every classroom became a small studio of world culture. Through creativity and collaboration, students showed that art connects people beyond borders and languages.

Wednesday was filled with laughter, movement, and joy! During International Games Day, students discovered traditional games, songs, and dances from around the world. Together with their homeroom teachers and friends, they learned that fun isn’t measured by technology, but by teamwork and smiles. The rhythm, energy, and joy transformed our school into a lively playground of the world, a day that reminded us that play and happiness are truly universal languages of childhood.

Thursday was the day when words were spoken in every language of the world! Through a fun Language Scavenger Hunt, students explored, learned, and discovered the magic of languages. Younger students learned a few words from the countries they represented, while older students solved language riddles hidden throughout the school, a true hunt for knowledge! Everyone realized that every language carries its own story, melody, and warmth. It was a day when our school turned into an adventure, and smiles became our universal translator.

The Grand Finale: Food Festival Around the World

Friday was the highlight of the week, a real festival of colors, flavors, and emotions.  After days of preparation and decoration, the school came alive like a world map. Flags waved proudly, students wore the colors of their countries, and music filled every corner. During the Flag Parade, unity and pride was shone brightly throughout the school. In his speech, Mr. Gareth reminded us of the importance of celebrating the diversity that unites us all.  At the Food Festival, the smells and tastes from all around the globe brought together students, parents, and visitors into one big “global village.” Students and families proudly represented: Ukraine, Armenia, Moldova, Serbia, Montenegro, Turkey, North Africa, France, Venezuela, Italy, and many more! Each country shared its traditions, culture, and delicious dishes that made everyone happy.

The atmosphere was full of excitement and togetherness. Everyone had the chance to taste foods from different parts of the world, learn about new cultures, and enjoy the spirit of unity. It was beautiful to see how food brings people closer. Everyone was welcomed to taste the dishes, learn about different cultures, and talk to students that represented their tradition. People were smiling, dancing and taking photos together. Music played through the day, and at one point even our principal Mr. Gareth joined the choir by singing, which made the crowd cheer. The beautiful performance by the local choir gave a perfect final touch to this unforgettable week.

Events like International Day remind us how important it is to celebrate diversity and learn from each other. They show that, no matter where we come from, we share kindness, curiosity and friendship. By the end of the day everyone went home with happy memories and a full stomach of different foods.

Huge thank you to the International Committee for making this day special for our community!
