Speak Up!
Human rights come in everyday life events. During school, it’s crucial to stand up against
bullying and discrimination. Did you know that 1 in every 5 students are experiencing some
kind of bullying and discrimination?(Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center) You have
the power to make a difference. If you see something that shouldn’t be happening make sure
to speak up! Your voice is more capable of what you think, your voice can create a safer and
happier environment for all students.

Equal Opportunities for All!
Every student deserves an equal amount of success. Sadly, over 258 million children don’t
have access to quality education worldwide(UNESCO). At school, everyone should be
equal, support your peers, and go against insulting stereotypes. Education is a human right,
and what we can do is make sure everyone gets an equal amount of opportunity and
success.

Respect!
Respect is one of the core values that should be shown by everyone. Treating people with
dignity and respect, regardless of their background, and lifestyle. A study I found shows that
students in an environment with respect perform better academically. (Mertz et al.) Our
school should be the place where students feel valued.

Being able to express yourself:
Your voice matters more than you think, expressing yourself is a human right. At school, you
should feel free to share your ideas and opinions. But remember, with this freedom comes
the responsibility to listen to others and respect different viewpoints. To be able for all of us
to experience freedom and to be able to express yourself you have to listen to other pears
and respect their expressions. Expressing yourself to others can lead to stronger and more
loyal friendships.

Stand Up for Human Rights
Human rights is everyone’s business, including you! Whether it’s helping a new student feel
welcome into our community or standing up against another student getting bullied, your
actions at school can make a big impact on a student’s life. Studies show that safe school
environments improve students well being and academically. (“How School Safety Impacts
Student Success”) Let’s commit to making our school a better place where our human rights
are respected every day.
