The Year 1 classroom has been transformed into a true world of imagination. The students’ first Unit of Inquiry is called “Play”, with the goal of helping children discover how play supports learning, sharing, and the development of creativity.

Inspired by the story “Not a Box” by Antoinette Portis, the children were given the task of turning an ordinary cardboard box into something completely new – a car, a rocket, a robot, a dollhouse, or anything else their imagination could create. After working in the classroom, the students continued the project at home together with their parents, designing their imaginative creations. Their works now decorate the classroom walls, bearing witness to the limitless creativity of children.
A special event is planned for Thursday, when the Year 1 students will present their creations to their older friends from Year 4. It will be a chance for them to share their experiences, show their imagination, and enjoy the joy of play – because, as the children have shown, a box is never just a box.
We warmly invite all students and teachers to come, see the creations, and support our youngest inquirers in their creativity. We are certain that their ideas will surprise and inspire you!
